So, What is “Greening the Grove”?
The Idaho Green Expo and other community partners want to leave something behind as a gift to the citizens of Boise. The plan is to build a permanent stage on the Grove, with a solar array as it's roof, creating an energy-neutral gathering place and performance space for our community.

The vision for the combined architectural piece is that it be a contemporary, artful, esthetically pleasing landmark for the City of Boise. It will also serve as an outdoor performance space, a conversation piece and a physical example of our community's dedication to sustainability. It will enhance the downtown experience, boost pride in our community and help to increase the vitality that already exists on the Grove Plaza. The project, just in its infancy, can be supported by making a donation or by participating in the Greening the Grove Raffle. For more information about this exciting project, please visit the GreenWorks booth in the lobby!

The array, which will be tied directly into the grid, will produce solar energy 365 days a year, offsetting the energy used by events produced in the Grove, creating an energy neutral community gathering place. This state-of-the-art array will measure 1,000 square feet and will rotate above the tree line to catch the best of the sunlight through out the day and throughout the year. It will also serve as an education piece for the community around sustainability and solar energy.

Alternative Vehicle Display
Yes, there will be a hybrid car on display, but there are other technologies that are here now to help us kick our addition to oil! Bio-diesel, owner conversions of gas cars to electric, manufactured electric cars, electric scooters, commuter bikes and even a solar powered car! Visit this fascinating display in the U.S. Bank's south parking lot.

Eco-Kids!
The Foothills School of Arts and Science's is proud to present the Eco-Kids Exhibit. Located between the Seminar and Film Festival rooms, this Exhibit will introduce the principles of environmental sustainability through multi-sensory, hands-on activities and demonstrations. Activities are designed to capture kids' attention, foster appreciation of the natural world, and understand our increasing impact on the planet. From this experience, children will learn how to affect changes necessary to promote a more sustainable future. Booths and demonstrations will be interactive, and on a level that excites kids' natural curiosity.

Green Short-Film Festival
PBS and The History Channel have produced some incredible short films on green building and alternative energy that you won't want to miss. Unfortunately, you'll probably have to miss some of them, or you'll spend both days at the Expo watching these films. But check out the schedule on our website and make sure you see the ones that interest you most. See complete schedule below.
